Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi, I’m Fabian Zelaya bilingual student currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering at Arizona State University - Engineering, and I am thrilled to share my experiences with you.

Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a passion for creating exceptional user experiences through technology. My previous background in Graphic and Web Design has allowed me to bring a unique perspective to my software engineering work, which combines aesthetic appeal with seamless functionality.

As a software engineer, I am constantly exploring new technologies and approaches to problem-solving. I am excited to be part of a field that is constantly striving for innovation, creativity, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

What’s your favourite item on your desk?

My favorite desk item has to be the monitor stand and keyboard — not only for its practicality but also for its contribution to maintaining the aesthetic look, creating a clean and top-notch environment.

What books, blogs, or podcasts recently caught your attention?

I'm currently engrossed in the incredible book, "Clean Architecture" by Robert C. Martin. It's providing valuable insights into creating robust and well-structured software systems. Additionally, I'm actively practicing my coding skills and exploring various books related to software engineering as part of my ongoing studies at school. It's a multifaceted approach to continuous learning and improvement.

Any tips for other makers who want to improve their workspaces?

Focus on organization and tailor workspace to enhance both productivity and creativity.

What does your typical day look like?

My days are a harmonious blend of software engineering, attending classes, and pursuing personal projects. Early mornings are dedicated to classes, afternoons for coding and project development, and evenings for reviewing coursework and exploring new technologies. Balancing work, learning, and personal projects creates a dynamic yet fulfilling routine.

When did you start to work on your desk setup?

I initiated the journey of crafting my desk setup in 2018, with a focus on maintaining a clean and visually appealing environment. While I began sharing glimpses on Instagram in March 2022, it was in 2023 that I embraced a more serious approach on social media. The overwhelming support from the community has been incredible, and I believe there's much more to contribute as a Software Engineer. This is just the beginning of an exciting chapter at the intersection of technology and creativity.

What's your desk setup aesthetics?

My desk setup aesthetics lean towards a modern style, where clean lines and contemporary elements create a visually appealing environment. I prioritize functionality while infusing my personality into the setup. It's a well-designed workspace that combines ergonomic principles for comfort and efficiency with modern design for a visually pleasing atmosphere.

What niche interest are you up to recently?

Recently, I've been delving into work-projects, immersing myself in modern design aesthetics, and drawing inspiration from the ever-evolving world of technology.

Your advice for beginners getting into Desk Setup.

To begin your desk setup journey, prioritize functionality. Pay attention to ergonomics to create a comfortable and productive workspace. As you go along, incorporate your own personality into the setup, making it truly yours. Remember, this is a personal space meant to inspire you on a daily basis. Embrace the learning process and don't strive for perfection right from the start. Every adjustment will bring new insights and help you improve your setup over time.
