Do you offer other PDU models for different countries or regions?

Yes, we can customize the cable management tray with different PDU socket types to suit your country's or region's standards, including EU, UK, and AU types. Please note that customization and shipping outside the United States may require 1-2 months of lead time. Additionally, due to the size of UK sockets, the UK version of the PDU will feature 6 outlets instead of 8.

How deep is the tray? I'm concerned about my knees hitting the bottom of the tray.

The dimensions of the tray are 31.1" L x 10.1" W x 4.8" H (790 x 256 x 123 mm). We’ve carefully designed the tray to ensure it won’t interfere with your knees, providing a comfortable experience even when seated.

Can I install a cable management tray on a non-Hexcal desk?

Yes, the Hexcal Cable Management Tray is designed for universal compatibility. While it features pre-drilled mounting holes for the Hexcal Elevate Standing Desk, it can be installed on any solid wood, bamboo, or MDF (composite) desktop. To ensure a secure fit, your tabletop should be at least 3/4" (20mm) thick and large enought to mount the tray (31.1" L x 10.1" W). The tray mounts easily using standard wood screws and a screwdriver or drill, making it an ideal cable management upgrade for any professional office or gaming setup.

With the tray installed, how much distance is there between the tray and the edge of the desk? I'm worried I won't have enough space for my monitor arm clamps.

The distance between the tray and the edge of the desk is approximately 3.2" (80mm), providing ample space for mounting monitor arms. Our design team carefully considered this factor during the development process to ensure compatibility with most monitor arm clamps.

How do I hide a power strip under a standing desk?

To hide a power strip under a standing desk, install a heavy-duty steel cable management tray to the underside of the desktop. For the cleanest setup, use a tray with a built-in Power Distribution Unit (PDU) like the Hexcal Tray. This allows you to plug all monitors and peripherals into a single 8-socket industrial hub hidden under the desk, reducing the "cable waterfall" to just one main power cord. This setup ensures that cables don't tangle or pull loose when the standing desk transitions between sitting and standing heights.

What is the difference between a metal tray and a mesh cable net?

The primary difference lies in weight capacity and longevity. While mesh nets are lightweight, they notoriously sag or stretch over time under the weight of heavy power bricks and bundles. A high-grade powder-coated steel or aluminum tray provides a "zero-sag" structural foundation that maintains a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Furthermore, solid metal trays offer superior protection against dust and accidental kicks, whereas mesh nets leave cables exposed. For pro-users, the Hexcal metal tray also supports an integrated industrial-grade PDU, a feature impossible to implement safely in a flexible mesh system.

Is the integrated PDU safe for high-end computers and monitors?

Yes. The Hexcal Power Distribution Unit (PDU) is an industrial-grade power center designed specifically for high-performance workstations. It is rated for 1875W (15A), providing more than enough overhead for high-wattage gaming PCs, multiple 4K monitors, and studio equipment. Beyond standard surge protection, it features internal shielding to reduce EMI/RFI electrical noise, ensuring your hardware receives "clean" power and preventing audio-visual interference. The heavy-duty steel housing also provides superior heat dissipation and fire safety compared to plastic power strips.

Can I use a monitor arm with an under-desk cable tray installed?

Yes, the Hexcal Tray is fully compatible with most monitor arms. It is designed to be "clamp-friendly" by allowing for adjustable placement during installation. Whether you use a C-clamp or a grommet mount, you can offset the tray slightly from the desk edge to provide the necessary clearance for the mounting hardware. This setup is ideal for single, dual, or triple monitor configurations, as it allows you to route cables directly from the monitor arm into the tray, eliminating the "cable hang" behind your desk.

Will an under-desk cable tray hit my knees while sitting?

No. A properly designed tray like the Hexcal Cable Management Tray is engineered to maximize under-desk legroom. It features a slim 4.8-inch (122mm) total height profile, allowing it to sit much higher than traditional wire baskets. To ensure total ergonomic clearance, the tray should be mounted toward the rear of the desk. This placement keeps your cables organized and provides a 3.1-inch deep interior for bulky power bricks while remaining completely out of the way of your knees and legs, even when using a chair at a standard sitting height.

Can I mount the tray facing forward or backward?

Yes, the Hexcal Tray features a bi-directional mounting design. Depending on your desk’s frame structure and your personal preference, you can install the tray with the opening facing toward the front for frequent cable access or toward the wall for maximum concealment. This flexibility is essential for desks with central support crossbars or limited underside depth, ensuring you can optimize your cable routing path regardless of your desk's specific architecture.

How does a "tilting" cable tray help with desk organization?

A tilting cable tray, like the Hexcal model, simplifies workspace maintenance by providing easy access to power sources without requiring you to crawl under your desk. The 45° tilt mechanism allows the tray to swing open, giving you a clear line of sight to the integrated 8-socket PDU. This is especially helpful for standing desk users who frequently swap peripherals or chargers. Once your cables are organized, the tray securely locks back into place to maintain a clean, minimalist "floating" look under your desktop.

How many devices can I power from the Hexcal Cable Management Tray?

The Hexcal Tray is designed to be the central power hub for a complete professional workstation. The US, EU, and AU versions feature 8 grounded AC outlets, while the UK version provides 6 outlets. This capacity allows you to power a PC or laptop, dual monitors, studio speakers, and desk lighting from a single organized location. The internal layout is strategically spaced to accommodate bulky power bricks and AC adapters without blocking adjacent sockets, ensuring you can utilize every port to eliminate desktop cable clutter.

Is the Hexcal cable tray safe for homes with children or pets?

Yes, the Hexcal cable tray is designed with safety as a priority for households with children and pets. It features secure locking mechanisms on both sides that fully enclose the power distribution unit and wires. This design prevents curious hands or paws from pulling on cables or touching live outlets, ensuring both your family and your workspace equipment remain protected.

Is the Hexcal tray visible from a standing position?

No. We designed the tray with a low-profile beveled edge specifically to hide your cables from almost every line of sight. It creates a "floating" look beneath your desk, making it the ideal solution for minimalist setups and professional video-call backgrounds where a clean aesthetic is required.

Does the tray protect cables from overheating?

Yes. The Hexcal tray features an open-ventilation architectural design that allows heat to rise and escape from power adapters. Proper airflow is critical for preventing thermal throttling in high-performance power units, a feature often missing in enclosed plastic cable boxes.
